End Dec Castle Visit

Postby waitressvn on Sat Oct 24, 2009 3:15 am

I will be in Japan in the last week of Dec. Is it correct that some of the Castles (Osaka Castle, Himeji Castle) would be closed during those period? What about Nijo Castle in Kyoto and other castles?

New year time is strange in Japan. Usually Japan's stores are always open but somehow almost everything closes on 1st and 2nd of January.
You are not being able to draw money too, since the ATMs keep holidays... XD

Nijo castle in Kyoto is closed during the time 26.12. - 4.1. Also every Tuesday (if I remember correctly)

Osaka castle is rebuild in late 90's so it's cool outside but inside is modern.
It's also closed 28.12 - 1.1.

Himeji castle is one of the best looking ones from outside and inside. You should go inside there more than Osaka.
Himeji closes 29.12. - 31.12.

Remember on the 2nd of Jan the "fukubukuro" A.K.A the lucky bags. :D
