If the Minshuto does manage a victory, how much of their program of change are they likely to be able to carry out? The collapse of LDP hegemony is one of those things that gets predicted every few years but never seems to actually happen. Even if they are voted out, no society turns on a dime and Japan is one where momentum really counts. I especially wonder about "curtailing the bureaucracy," one of those thing's thats easier said than done in any country.
I'd be interested to hear what Kevin (or anyone in-country) can offer on what the local buzz is on this.
